about

ABOUT "CITY BLUES"
City Blues showcases some of the finest work from electronic and jazz composer, Art Bleek. The collection of 13 tracks follows a sophisticated and cohesive line that runs through jazz, disco, r&b, house, and techno. The brilliance lies not just in the music, but in the weaving together of wide ranging influences into something greater that the sum of its parts. The listening experience covers breezy chill, tension filled nu-jazz (and the stuff of smokey lounges), care free summer jams, and modern edged techno.

ABOUT ART BLEEK
Arthur Pochon (aka Art Bleek) started studying piano at age 6. He enrolled in the conservatory at age 9 to study saxophone and music theory. He graduated from the prestigious institution 12 years later. During his years of study, Arthur played in various musical ensembles, ranging from chamber groups to full orchestras. He listened primarily to classical, jazz, world as well as electronic music and started composing original material on a 4-track tape recorder.
In 1996, he left to Boston’s Berklee College Of Music on a full scholarship to attend their summer music program. This trip proved to be a life-changing experience and gave direction to Arthur’s artistic choices. Starting in 1997, he found employment in major Paris recording studios where he developed his knowledge of the recording and mixing processes. At that time he began equipping his home recording studio with audio gear. This allowed him to produce his own music at home, which projects ranging from atonal, experimental work to electronic music, nu-jazz, House, Techno. He also scored music for documentaries for television, short films, contemporary plays as well as for advertising.
In 2001, his music drew the attention of several recording labels which released tracks on various compilations under the Art Bleek name. He started actively performing on the Paris club scene as a saxophonist alongside deejays and with various projects. At this time, he also started spinning an eclectic blend of jazz, nu-jazz, broken beats, bossa- nova, world, soul, rare grooves and electronic music records in hip Parisian bars and restaurants. He continues to spin for various events in Paris (Social Club, Batofar...), London, Los Angeles (Golden Box, King King...), West Hollywood (The Standard, The Roosevelt, Andaz...) and New York (Soho House...). Art Bleek is a resident Dj at Pour Vous in Hollywood. Art also works as a project advisor at Musicians Institute in Hollywood in the Independent Artist Program.
Toward the end of 2004, Art Bleek signed a recording contract with British label Loungin’ Recordings. The label released 2 albums ("Between Yesterday & Tomorrow" and "Art Supplies »).
Since then, Art Bleek has released more than 10 albums, as well as several EPs and remixes with various labels, including a collaborative album named Zoowax with Novena Carmel and Charlie Sputnik.
Art also produces original music and loops for the British label Sample Magic. He has also produced several albums for Dynamic Music, a UK-based publishing company.
Art Bleek is working with various labels, such as: True Romance (USA), Retrospective (UK), Loungin' Recordings (UK), Rush Hour Records (The Netherlands), Connaisseur Recordings (Germany), Resopal Red (Germany), Kubism Records (Germany), Part2 Records (UK), Sick Trumpet Records (UK), Klakson Records (The Netherlands), Night Drive Music (Germany), Good Mood Music (Germany), Queep Organic House (UK), Room With A View (Germany), Sounderground Records (UK), KGBeats (USA), Turbulent Calm Records (USA), Looq Records (USA), Einmaleins (Germany), Eevonext (The Netherlands), Opossum Recordings (Germany), Sharivari Records (France), Follow The White Rabbit (France), Raw Fusion (Sweden), Dig Deeper Records (UK), Looq Records (USA), Chinchin Records (UK/Germany)...

In addition to being an accomplished musician and producer, Arthur also wrote the screenplay for his first short film, which he directed in 2004. The short movie was released as a bonus DVD included in his first CD album on Loungin' Recordings. He also wrote the original score for it.
